With the purchase of a new machine, we are currently hiring CNC machinists, with a minimum of 2 years' experience. We machine lots of large, expensive castings, with tight tolerances, and long cycle times! Set-up experience is a plus.

Summary:

We are seeking a CNC machinist who will produce quality, machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

Duties:

* Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).

* Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.

* Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

* Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs in production and quality logs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Set-up and run CNC machinery
  2. Write and program G code.
  3. Train and oversee assignments of CNC operators.
  4. Maintain documents and reports.
  5. Ensure clean and safe work environment is maintained.
  6. Perform any other assigned duties, while ensuring quality is maintained.

 

SUPERVISORY  RESPONSIBILITIES

This job possibly may work as lead person on the shift.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school ; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization .

 

MATH SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problem s and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral , diagram, or schedule form.

The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and  risk of electrical shock. The noise level  in  the work  environment is usually loud . Milling, drilling, tapping, and turning noises created by machine operations are job duties affected by the environmental condition s selected above, and liquid coolant is  used on all operations.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Reads indicators, micrometers, and dial calipers as well as v visually inspecting parts.  Lifts tools, parts of fixtures, piece parts, and  buckets of coolant.  Climbs onto machine and/or part.  Crawls into fixture/part setup area.  Sees and estimates distance of tool to  piece part .  Rakes, sweeps and scoops chi ps.  Monitors condition  of machining from distance and close-up.
